Here’s a quote from EL 401 – Educational Law & Ethics – or How to navigate through teaching in Nevada’s public schools

“Keep in mind that education is really political – get the parents on your side, so that it is harder for the principal to go after you. It is much more difficult to prosecute a teacher that everyone likes than it is to stick it to the person that no one really likes. Don’t be that person that no one likes…”

  1. Another great reason why even working at the Evil K is better than being a teacher as I had at one time planned to do…

However, EL401 was probably the only class I learned anything from in the College of Ed.
Well, except CI 453(?) Multi-cultural Education, but I don’t count that because it’s a capstone open to anyone, and therefore not so College of Ed focused…

  2. ha! i love the way schools work. the teachers that were strict and sometimes hated by the students were the best teachers. they were the ones with the real passion for teaching. avoiding the political stance as much as possible, but therefore were hated. i hate the politics of school anyways though. i loved the teachers that went against the norm, and would really teach without all the rules of school. ie rule: there is only one way to do things and that is the teacher’s way; we need more teachers that love teaching to DIFFERENT kids, ugh, ok im done, i could go all day! :)

  3. i’m in trouble. you guys like me, right?

and it’s funny that jeni brings up those two classes as i would rank them the exact opposite.
