I’m meditating on this from 1Peter 3:8-12 – I need God to direct my actions & my words. Tomorrow, I’m meeting with some leaders from the UNR campus ministries re: how to/when to/whether to address the next go-round of chaos brought to UNR via the screamers bringing the “good news” that God Hates! And that awaiting them is condemnation & burn-ination…
Finally, all of you should be of one mind, full of sympathy toward each other, loving one another with tender hearts & humble minds. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate when people say unkind things about you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God wants you to do, and He will bless you for it. For the Scriptures say:
If you want a happy life and good days,
keep your tongue from speaking evil
and keep your lips from telling lies.
Turn away from evil and do good.
Work hard at living in peace with others.
The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right,
and His ears are open to their prayers.
But the Lord turns His face against those who do evil.
i will be praying for you and all those present.
ditto….ill be prayin for ya!
It may sound wierd coming from me, but I really do think that you’re above getting into any type of confrontation with them. It just becomes a badge of honor when anyone opposes them.
Plus, you’re not dealing with rational people; Griner used to do the same thing he’s doing at UNR in the middle of traffic in Vegas. We all know how well one can hear another person yelling at them as they cruise by going 45 mph.
This is the best example of the fact that what they’re doing is not about the message, but about them.
This is with nothing to say of the fact that Griner is from the South. ‘Nuff said.
Point of clarification – I’m not meeting with the screamers, & most likely will not have any sort of interaction with them – to do so would be to drag Jesus through the mud with people that no point of “common ground” or reconciliation is possible – this is due to the fact that any “opposing voice” or “other perspective” is merely bringing “division to the body” (bull) or is seen as “persecution” (right.)
By going to the meeting of campus groups, I hope to encourage the continued, relationally based “love God, love people” approach that the message of the gospel (Good News, right?) demands. Its not up to us to change the message for our own glory & “badges of honor.”
I’ll leave you with a profound thought: Badges? I don’t need no stinkin badges…
. . . or badgers
Actually, badgers might prove to be a useful distraction in this case…
But seriously, I will be praying for the outcome of these discussions! :)
This sounds very challenging for you. On one hand you have the freedom of speech to consider. To confront is casting your pearls before swine (don’t get rend, yo?) Your heart is for people to see through the crap and not dismiss the value of following Christ.
We’ll pray for you too.
this topic has been on my mind since you brought it up a couple weeks ago. sadly it has not crossed my prayers nearly as much. sorry. i will step it up. but, knowing this new news i have no advice except to say God has given you a mean sense of discernment. i am sure he wont suddenly take that away. oh and that wife of yours, she seems to be helpful in times like these. different view. equally as great. i love her you know. (say this last part in your best mike meyers hyper-hypo voice)
YOU’RE THE DEVIL!!!!
